Reconditioning Specialist

CLASSIFICATION:Year-round Full-time

FLSA:Exempt

REPORTS TO:Director of Sport Science

LOCATION:Park City UT

TRAVEL: <10%

TOTAL COMPENSATION:$80000 - $85000

SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE

The Reconditioning Specialist will play a critical role in working closely with U.S. Ski & Snowboard PhysicalTherapists/Athletic Trainers and team Athletic Development Coaches tosuccessfully rehabilitate injured athletes across all sports back into full performance programming. The position in conjunction with the Director of Sport Science will also educate support and mentor the Intermountain Health Certified COE site(s) in allaspects of U.S. Ski & Snowboard High Performance Departments systems andprocesses.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

National Team Rehabilitation Support

Athlete Experience

  • Provide Athletic Development programming coaching testing and monitoring for injured/rehabilitating national team athletes in close collaboration with U.S. Ski & Snowboard Physical Therapists/Athletic Trainers and team Athletic Development Coaches.
  • Athletic Development coaching and support for off-site rehabilitation/return-to-snow training camps.

Operational Excellence

  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team providing world-class services to athletes.
  • Stay at the leading edge of reconditioning training research and techniques.

Certified Center of Excellence (COE) Coordinator to Intermountain Health

Operational Excellence

  • Learn develop and help document U.S. Ski & Snowboards COE standard operating procedures in all areas of sport science and sports medicine support (including but not limited to: facility design and equipment needs staffing structure/requirements and education/certification athlete intake testing and monitoring injury prevention and return to snow protocols).
  • Work with Intermountain Health COE leadership team and U.S. Ski & Snowboard Director of Sport Science to translate U.S. Ski & Snowboard COE standard operating procedures into effective work practices at Intermountain Health COEs.
  • Assist support and mentor Intermountain Health COE staff in all aspects of U.S. Ski & Snowboards COE operations.
  • Travel to Intermountain Healths 3 Certified COE sites in Utah (Park City Murray and Ogden)
  • Conduct professional development sessions for Intermountain Health COE rehabilitation and performance staff.
  • Comply with Intermountain Health policies for dress conduct and identification in an Intermountain Health facility.

Financial Performance

  • Act as a Partnership Liaison to ensure both parties are actively engaging in and maximizing their return on investment of the partnership.

High Performance Centers

Operational Excellence

  • Lead the High Performance Center (HPC) program by collaborating with and educating a select group of top-tier clubs across the country.
  • Identify club needs and coordinate educational opportunities by engaging internal and external subject matter experts.
  • Plan and deliver national and regional retreats to strengthen connection alignment and shared purpose across the HPC network.
  • Support the nationwide implementation and delivery of SkillsQuest-Fitness testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs repeatedly.

COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Undergraduate degree (ideally Masters degree) in Sport Science Kinesiology Strength & Conditioning Athletic Training or related subject.
    • If in Athletic Training - Certified Athletic Trainer (NATA Certification Board)
  • Current certification from the CSCCa NSCA and/or USAW or equivalent and First Aid and CPR certified.
  • Minimum 5 years experience working with national-level athletes with significant experience reconditioning athletes through injury.
  • A strong understanding of the entire movement continuum athletic development philosophy physical literacy and long-term athlete development.
  • Proven experience working in an interdisciplinary High Performance Department among multiple disciplines.
  • Excellent knowledge of international best practices in athlete development and reconditioning.
  • Experience developing and delivering educational content is preferred.
  • Ability to travel locally within Utah frequently and nationally/internationally as required.
  • Legally able to work in the USA (USA citizen or existing Green Card/Work Visa without further sponsorship).
  • Must meet contractor requirements for working at Intermountain Health facilities.
