The Department

The Adult and Older Adult Department provides integrated treatment care and support in the areas of treatment and therapies; education wellbeing supports; peer support and self-help and care planning and coordination.

The AMAH Adult and Older Adult Department will ensure that older adults continue to benefit from sub-specialist services while also gaining access to a wider range of existing and planned services in such areas as therapeutic services AOD trauma informed services addictions family violence and sub-acute access in line with the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Victorias Mental Health and part of our implementation of the requirements presented in the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022.

The Role

The Allied Health Assistant (AHA) works closely with the multidisciplinary Allied Health team at the Greenhouse to provide a flexible and responsive service that works to meet each patients identified therapeutic and discharge goals.

The position is responsible for the implementation of individual interventions and/or therapy programs as delegated by the treating therapists. The AHA will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide services that include provision of delegated therapies provision of appropriate equipment and aids as prescribed by Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) assistance with paperwork and referrals to facilitate discharge and liaison with external providers to obtain information to progress care or facilitate discharge. The AHA will also be responsible for administrative and clinical support functions which assist with patient management and contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of the team.

Experience and Qualifications Required

Level 2

Essential

  • Completion of Certificate IV (Allied Health Assistance) from a registered training organisation with a minimum of 2 years of experience OR
  • Recognised equivalent qualification (as determined by the line manager) i.e. Overseas-trained Allied Health practitioner with a qualification at Diploma level or higher

Desirable

  • Experience in a mental health setting
  • Current Victorian Drivers License (unrestricted)

Level 3

Essential

  • Completion of Certificate IV (Allied Health Assistance) from a registered training organisation with a minimum of 3 years of experience OR
  • Worked as a grade 2 allied health assistant for a minimum of 3 years (full-time equivalent)
  • Recognised equivalent qualification (as determined by the line manager) i.e. Overseas-trained Allied Health practitioner with a qualification at Diploma level or higher

Desirable

  • Experience in mental health setting
  • Current Victorian Drivers License (unrestricted)
