POSITION SPECIFICS
We are searching for an IT Architect/Engineer to join our Information Technology Service Office at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University. ARLs purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific engineering and technology problems in support of the Navy the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Intel Community (IC). This role will help design and implement a secure computing infrastructure to support mission critical operations.
ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.
You will:
Lead in the development of information security strategies roadmaps and standards across external internal and cloud-based infrastructure
Coordinate cybersecurity architecture across diverse areas including application development identity and access management network and data management security and compliance
Lead the cybersecurity solution design development testing and implementation for new IT initiatives
Assist in developing security baselines and standards for critical infrastructure hardening and strengthening security to exceed best practices
Collaborate with peer architects and technical leaders finding opportunities to improve product capabilities or perform capability rationalization
Participate in high-level enterprise architecture analysis system evaluation design integration documentation and development
Work with a highly skilled research and engineering staff to develop and execute complex solutions
Required skills/experience areas include:
Active security clearance at the TOP SECRET (Tier 5) level
A current DoD 8140 baseline certification or higher (CISSP SecurityX Security) and the ability to maintain this security related certification
In-depth knowledge of architecting and implementing enterprise level information and cybersecurity solutions
Proven track record of driving complex security initiatives through cross-functional collaboration and influence
Experience with security operations incident response and vulnerability management
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing security controls policies and procedures for sensitive data
Preferred skills/experience areas include:
IT Infrastructure certifications (VMware RHCSA or Splunk)
Proficiency working within the parameters detailed via DISA STIGs
Experience with microservices and containerization; such as orchestration cluster management and container storage including Docker Kubernetes or Rancher
Recent (within five years) demonstrated proficiency with Defense-in-Depth principles and technology including access/control authorization and knowledge of Federal and DoD Information security regulations
Demonstrated ability to translate complex security concepts into clear actionable recommendations
Your working location will be fully on-site located in State College PA with some opportunities for hybrid work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.
MINIMUM EDUCATION WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

SALARY & BENEFITS
