Description:
Position Purpose:
- Health Information Specialist II performs a variety of activities in the HIM Department by providing customer service greeting patients and visitors on the phone or in person; reviewing and processing requests for release of information to patients and for continuity of care; and analyzing medical records for deficiency and quality Specialty: Hospice
- Location: Mount Carmel : 500 S Cleveland Ave Westerville OH 43081
- Hours of office: 40 hour week week
What You Will Do:
- Greets all customers in person and on phone and assists with their requests for health information.
- Screens all ROI requests (in person via mail fax email and telephone) prior to processing. Ensures authorization release and verification processes are followed.
- Reviews processes and tracks requests for Protected Health Information. Sorts mail and distributes request to appropriate location or team.
- Maintains all necessary records regarding the disclosures and tracking of requested information.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High School graduate is required. Associate Degree in Health Information Management preferred.
- Licensure / Certification: Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator or Registered Health Information Technician preferred.
