Reporting to Director Strategic Planning the Manager Mine Planning North America Technical & Planning is responsible forleadingmine planning activities for Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Red Dog Operations (RDO) and development projects in the North America region.
The Strategic Planning North America team a part of the broader Technical and Planning team comprises professionals in geoscience mine planning and mineral processing. The teams objective is to deliver on Tecks strategy through optimizing long-term plans for assets in the operating or project phase identifying future opportunities and risks by using the core technical fields of geological and resource modelling mine planning and metallurgical modelling.
Collaborating with each sites operating team the role is accountable for delivering on annual Life of Mine (LOM) plans and as required Resource Development Planning (RDP) processes. The individual will identify and build value creation opportunities throughout the Annual Planning Cycle and provide leadership to the regional mine planning group which currently consists of five professionals.
This role will protect and advance Tecks reputation and financial interests through responsible application of engineering principles for mine planning and design working closely with site operational and functional teams Technical & Planning the Project Development Group and applicable Sustainability and External Affairs groups.
This position will contribute technical and leadership expertise inclusive of but not limited to mine optimization and design production planning and scheduling waste management and supporting the development of operating and capital costs. The outstanding appointee is expected to mentor juniors and actively participate in succession planning. Overall they will promote a culture of innovation continuous improvement and effective quality and organizational change.
