About the role
Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton is offering an exciting opportunity for an Administration Support Officer to join our team in Patient Bookings. This is a full-time fixed term contract for 6 months (from August 2025).
Patient Bookings team is essential for coordinating appointments and ensuring smooth patient flow within the hospital.
Salary range: $39.79 - $44.25 per hour 12% superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15900access to many staff benefits!
What youll be doing
- Support hospital-wide administration ensuring adherence to procedures within wards/clinical areas
- Maintain accurate and current patient records results and documentation
- Clear polite phone and in-person communication with patients staff and providers
- Arranging all required paperwork for admission into hospital
- Support pre-admission and admission processes as needed
- Friendly empathetic approach to patient needs and concerns
- Keep patient management systems updated with relevant details and statuses
- Assist the revenue team with financial checks and patient expense collections
- Handling multiple calls appointments and priorities efficiently
- Maintain a tidy work station with strict confidentiality of patient information
About you
To be successful in your application you will have:
- High level of customer service interpersonal and written communication skills
- Excellent phone manners
- Demonstrated ability to provide efficient and effective administration support in a timely and organised manner
- Previously experience in a hospital or health care environment (highly desired)
- Accurate data entry skills with a high-level computer proficiency including in Microsoft Office and departmental data bases and other software applications
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Medical terminology
- Health insurance and referral processes
- Certificate III in Health Administration or similar is desirable but not essential
