JOB SUMMARY
Identify recruit and enroll eligible Refugee students residing in the Fayette County Public School District ages 3-22 years old who qualify for Refugee services per the federal and state statutes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Explain federal regulations pertaining to the Refugee education program; provide parent/guardian with a description of the Refugee Program and an explanation and purpose of the industrial survey.
- Abide by standard procedures and practices contained in the State Identification and Recruitment Handbook and other directives issued by the State Department of Education.
- Attend recruiter meetings and other training sessions sponsored by the District or by the State Department of Education.
- Identify eligible Refugee students residing within the boundaries of the Fayette County Public Schools; work flexible hours to reach Refugee population using discretion in determining when a Refugee advocate should accompany you on a home visit.
- Complete Certificate of Eligibility and Health Data Entry Forms; obtain a parent signature for documentation of eligibility for eligible students; submit completed and signed Certificates of Eligibility and Health Data Entry forms to assigned staff.
- Work under the supervision of a Refugee Advocate; assist school principals teachers secretaries and nurses in maintaining related records.
- Communicate between home and school continually striving to maintain positive communication.
- Assist Refugee Advocate with the recruitment of parents for membership in the Parent Advisory Council and with related activities.
- Provide or facilitate supportive services to Refugee children or to their families as necessary; enable Refugee children to receive a sound education.
- Document maintain and keep a daily log to include mileage and time of all activities such as home visits assisting with PAC meetings transportation of parents/guardians or other activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Student Support as it relates to the Refugee Program.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate in more than one language or the willingness to learn to communicate in more than one language at the novice level of proficiency.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains regular attendance.

- Correct oral and written usage of English and a designated second language.
- Oral and written communication skills.

- Laws rules and regulations related to assigned activities.
- Applicable sections of the Kentucky Administrative Regulations and other applicable laws.

- Read write translate and interpret English and Spanish.

- Complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner.

- Maintain routine records and prepare reports.
- Work confidentially with discretion.
- Maintain current knowledge of program rules regulations requirements and restrictions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate; two years of college preferred;
- One year of experience working with multi-cultural clientele; bilingual in English and Spanish
Licenses or Certifications:
- Valid Kentucky Drivers License
Special Requirements:
This job requires flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Work is performed while standing sitting and/or walking.

- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
