Job Description

Description

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures perform all required diagnostic MRI scanning procedures with knowledge of all pertinent technical and academic areas to produce consistent high quality examinations.



Responsibilities
  1. Perform all required diagnostic MRI scanning procedures through proper positioning and technique consistently demonstrating good judgment in evaluating the diagnostic studies.
  2. Screen patient before exam for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examination (i.e. pain claustrophobia metallic objects isolation patients etc.).Obtain and review the requisition for examination to obtain information such as procedure requested clinical history patient condition or any other special requirements.
  3. Thoroughly explain procedure to be performed to alleviate patient anxiety and facilitate patient the condition of any patient within the department and assist the radiologist in performing needed medical attention if applicable.
  4. Comply with Hospital operational and safety policies and with Hospital policies procedures and emergency procedures where applicable.
  5. Maintain the MRI scanning equipment in good operating and disinfect equipment and area after each use. Maintain work area in an orderly manner. Check to ensure emergency equipment is in good working any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdowns to responsible supervisor.
  6. Routinely prepare examination for interpretation by the radiologist to include correct identification adequate clinical history and previous x-rays for comparison (if available).
  7. Assist radiologist during the administration of contrast media and practice medical and surgical aseptic procedures as allergic reactions and respond in accordance to hospital policies and procedures for emergent patient care.
  8. Assist with patient scheduling and patient preparation required prior to examination.
  9. Conduct examinations with regard to patients age condition or other special requirements.


Qualifications
  1. ARRT MR/MR eligible or equivalent.
  2. Bachelors degree.
  3. NYS Radiologic Technology license required.
  4. Through knowledge of MRI Safety.
  5. State and Federal health safety laws.
  6. Recognize basic cross-sectional anatomy and pathology.
  7. Proper body mechanics.
  8. Set up adjust and operate imaging equipment.
  9. Schedule organize and complete work in accordance with schedule.
  10. Understand and follow specifications and instructions.
