The Greater Victoria School District #61 is looking to hire a Payroll Specialist. This is a full time in person continuing position working 35 hours per week.
The Greater Victoria School District provides public educational services to over 20000 students in the Greater Victoria area encompassing six municipalities. To provide this service the District has a current operating budget of $260 million and employs approximately 3500 staff which includes teachers principals and vice-principals support staff psychologists speech and language pathologists and exempt managerial staff.
Reporting to the Manager Payroll and Benefits the Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring payroll records are reviewed for accuracy proper authorization compliant with legislation and collective agreements. The Payroll Specialist processes data for an automated payroll system including various methods of time entry absences deductions benefits classifications pay rates withholding taxes terminations and leaves. The Payroll Specialist is the first contact for payroll and benefit related questions from employees and external agencies.
Education and Experience:
This position falls within the CUPE 947 Collective Agreement at a pay rate of $35.15 per hour plus a comprehensive benefits package after successful completion of probation. For a complete job description please click here Payroll Specialist.
