Visit us at to hear more from our team members about why UnityPoint Health is a great place to work. physical therapist assistant is responsible for carrying out treatment interventions/strategies established in the initial plan of care and under the guidance and direction of the supervising Licensed Physical Therapist.
- Assists Licensed Physical Therapist in patient treatments through implementation of modalities exercise ambulation patient and family teaching balance strategies and activities of daily living.
- Carries out treatment plan and coordinates with patient family significant others and care team.
- Monitors patients response and modifies treatment to achieve goals.
- Documents the results of patients assessment treatment follow-up and termination of services
- Reviews and analyzes quality appropriateness of the physical therapy services delivered. Reports associated problems to supervisor as indicated.
- Understands and complies with billing and reimbursement procedures according to governmental and third party requirements. Follows through with accurate and ethical billing practices.
- Accepts responsibility for maintaining and developing personal and professional skills and knowledge related to the work area assigned.
- Shares new learning with peers to support the clinical skill and program development of peers
- Assists Licensed Physical Therapist in the oversight of Physical Therapist Assistant students or interns as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited physical therapist assistant program
- One year of experience preferred.
- Clinical Internship preferred.
- Current license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the State of Iowa
- Must read write speak and comprehend English.
- Must be able to communicate effectively (written and orally) with people of diverse professional educational and lifestyle backgrounds.
