Job Description

Rate is $16.83/hour

Catholic Charities of Baltimore is currently seeking a Housekeeper who is responsible for cleaning assigned living areas hallways stairwells elevators and offices to ensure cleanliness and to maintain an orderly and attractive appearance throughout the buildings.

St. Vincents Villa provides comprehensive residential treatment for children ages 5-13. We serve children ages 5-13 whose behavioral and emotional needs have not responded to community-based interventions and services. Intervening early can help increase the likelihood of successful therapy and behavioral modification. The work schedule is: Monday-Friday 8:30-4:40pm

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform daily housekeeping maintenance in all areas per the standard cleaning procedure.
  • Service bathroom fixtures (toilets sinks etc.) with proper germicidal cleaners. Replenish paper supplies.
  • Maintain all departmental equipment in good safe working order and report malfunctions to Director.
  • Communicate with residents and families in a polite and caring manner.
  • Perform complete cleaning of vacant rooms to prepare for new admissions
  • Attend mandatory in-services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee

PROGRAM SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Employees working in the following program(s) have responsibilities that are in addition to the above
duties and responsibilities. These include but are not limited to:
St. Vincents Villa & Villa Maria School:

  • Assist with laundry as needed for the units.
  • Submit maintenance work orders for repairs/corrections as needed.
  • Defrost and clean refrigerator/freezers when required.
  • Promptly report injuries cuts and illnesses to supervisor.
  • Adhere to trauma informed care principles and the Children and Residential Experiences (CARE)
    model in all interactions with students families and colleagues.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 1 year housekeeping experience preferably in a healthcare environment.

REQUIREMENTS & ABILITIES:

  • Shows reliability by being punctual; maintains consistent attendance.
  • Excellent communication skills including active listening.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction or supervision.
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients and co-workers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Medium work that includes moving objects up to 30 pounds.
  • Moving about accomplishing tasks or moving from one work site to another.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists hands and/or fingers.
  • Ascending or descending ladders stairs and ramps etc.
