Job Description

Location: Christel House Watanabe High School
Reports To: CTE and Dual Credit Director

FLSA Status: Exempt


WHAT MAKES THIS ROLE AWESOME:

The Early College/ICC Advisor plays a critical role in supporting Christel House Watanabe High Schools mission to ensure students are prepared for postsecondary success through College Core attainment Associates Degrees Early College Supports and other Credentials of Value. This position supports the planning coordination and implementation of the Early College program focusing on Indiana College Core and Associate Degree pathways. The advisor works closely with students staff families and external partners. This is a full-time school-year position with some extended year responsibilities as needed for summer planning or support.


WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:


Individualized Student Support & Credential Tracking 60%

  • Serve as a primary resource for students in the Early College Cohorts as well as other students seeking ICC Associate Degrees and other Credentials of Value.
  • Track individual students progress toward Credentials of Value including college credits ICC completion and Associate Degrees.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities and proactively support students through advising intervention and goal-setting.
  • Maintain close relationships with Ivy Tech UIndy and other postsecondary partners to ensure student enrollment academic progress and credential alignment.

Recruitment & Early Awareness 10%

  • Lead Early College strategy outreach with 8th and 9th-grade students and families.
  • Support recruitment activities including presentations events and early academic advising.

Application & Selection Process 10%

  • Design and implement the Early College application and selection process.
  • Ensure equitable access and clarity in selection criteria and communication.

Data & Reporting 5%

  • Fulfill internal and external data requests including Early College and ICC program data and qualitative reports.
  • Collaborate with school leaders on program evaluation and continuous improvement.

Leadership & Collaboration 5%

  • Participate in Early College leadership team meetings to support program development and alignment.
  • Share insights and updates with administrative and instructional staff.

Dual Credit Monitoring 5%

  • Coordinate with the counseling department to ensure students complete dual credit applications accurately and on time.
  • Monitor student performance in dual credit courses and assist with grade submission processes.

New ICC/DC Student Onboarding 5%

  • Support onboarding and orientation of students newly enrolled in dual credit or Early College pathways.
  • Provide guidance on expectations processes and academic planning.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to access and academic excellence for all students
  • Bachelors degree (required)
  • Experience working with high school students especially first-generation college-bound populations
  • Excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent data tracking reporting and related decision-making skills
  • Professional approachable and committed to the success of every student
  • Demonstrate skills in positively relating to students parents and staff in a variety of settings.
  • Demonstrate organizational and time management skills to assist with and complete a variety of tasks successfully.
  • Ability to work effectively with a team or on individual initiatives or tasks
  • Masters Degree (preferred)
  • Indiana School Counselor licensure (preferred)
  • Understanding of Indianas new diploma requirements Early College model ICC dual credit systems and teacher credentialing (preferred)
  • Experience in School Counseling Education Higher Education or a related field (preferred)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand/sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
