Assistant to the City Manager!

THE POSITION
As a strategic partner to the City Manager and executive leadership the Assistant to the City Manager is a highly responsible professional responsible for coordinating City operations advancing intergovernmental initiatives shaping public communication and guiding high-impact programs. This dynamic role offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of policy implementation civic engagement and innovative service delivery. Acting as a trusted advisor liaison and problem-solver the Assistant to the City Manager will help translate the City Councils vision into tangible outcomes that benefit Moreno Valleys diverse and growing community.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate for this role is a strategic solution-driven professional with a passion for public service and civic leadership. They possess exceptional communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to connect authentically with diverse audiencesfrom internal staff to community groups to intergovernmental partners. Adept at navigating complex issues this individual brings sound judgment political acumen and creativity to their work whether overseeing critical outreach initiatives or advising on policy direction. They are a natural collaborator deeply committed to inclusion transparency and innovation in local government. With a strong analytical background and the ability to manage projects with precision and purpose this candidate is ready to support executive leadership and help bring the City Councils vision for Moreno Valley to life.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; and five years of increasingly responsible office administrative or secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. An Associates degree is highly desirable.

MISSION STATEMENT
The City Managers Office is committed to providing and coordinating excellent staff support and sound policy recommendations to the City Council leading the organization in an effective efficient and principled manner and providing organizational support and direction to the departments.

ABOUT THE CITY MANAGERS DEPARTMENT
Functions of this office include coordination of the implementation of City Council policies and programs; providing overall direction to the departments that administer City programs and services; coordinating intergovernmental relations and legislative advocacy; and administration of the Citys Technology Services Division media relations public information and intergovernmental relations and public safety contract administrator.
