The University of Hawaii at Manoa School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene (UH Manoa SONDH) invites qualified applicants for one (1) tenure-eligible 9-month faculty position. Specific priorities include undergraduate and graduate nursing education and research in support of the schools research agenda to address health disparities in underserved populations. The position is expected to begin approximately January 2026 or as mutually acceptable. Continuous recruitment; 1st review July 25 2025; 2nd review August 8 2025; review of applications will continue until position is filled. To learn more about SONDH go to: and Responsibilities:

  1. Teach assigned courses in the undergraduate and/or graduate program. Specific priorities of need include undergraduate teaching in pediatric nursing medical-surgical and/or fundamentals.
  2. Maintain a professional level of performance and productivity in assigned areas of teaching research and service.
  3. Undertake research/scholarly projects in the field or branch of learning represented by and consistent with UH Manoa SONDH goals.
  4. Provide service and leadership to the school university profession and community.
  5. Maintain expertise in current discipline content and methodologies and in the understanding of student educational needs.
  6. Contribute to development activities in the profession department and campus levels.
  7. Work independently and with colleagues to select develop and revise curricular materials instructional techniques and assessment strategies at the course credential and/or discipline levels.
  8. Participate in professional and self-development activities.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. PhD or equivalent earned doctorate degree from an accredited program with a research dissertation completed in nursing or a relevant to the research and scholarship interests of the UH Manoa SONDH;
  2. Hold a current (or be eligible for) unrestricted RN license to practice in Hawaii;
  3. Demonstrated ability as a teacher;
  4. Demonstrated scholarly achievement;
  5. Professionalism in meeting and conferring with others.

Desirable Qualifications:

  1. Coursework in curriculum development and health sciences education.
  2. Minimum of two years of clinical experience in one of the specific priority need areas: pediatric nursing or medical-surgical.
  3. Certification or eligibility in advanced practice nursing.
  4. Demonstrated competency in interprofessional team work and team science.
  5. Demonstrated experience in extramurally funded research.
  6. Recent publication in scientific peer-reviewed major journals.
  7. Experience with nursing or healthcare technology based simulation education.
