Serves actively as a member of the Senior Management Team and Leadership Team
Serves as the Employer Co -Chair of the Labor Management Committee
Serves as an Employer Representative of the Collective Bargaining Team
Serves on the Community Advisory Council for The Salvation Army
Serves as the Employer Representative for Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Management
Written and Verbal Communication
Develop and document business requirements process and reports as needed
Develop and document options and recommendations to issues and problems
Support key stakeholders in understanding the implications of options and decisions

Providing leadership to Direct Reports to provide oversight into all aspects of operations as it relates to the following Departments and Programs:
Direct Report Community Ministries Program Supervisor - Campbell River - Department - Community & Family Services including the following programs:
Family Services Community Kitchen Christmas Campaign Fundraising Dinner Bell
Direct Report Shelter Supervisor Department Sheltering Services including the following programs:
Emergency Shelter Second Stage Housing
Direct Report Thrift Store Manager Department Thrift Stores including the following programs:
Main Thrift Store
Works with the Management Team in the preparation of a program operating budget. Monitors and is directly responsible for the financial performance of the above programs.
Works with the Management Team to create and implement strategic plans and is directly responsible for those goals related to Community Programs.
Is responsible for the development and upkeep of policies and procedures for Community Ministries programs in consultation with Corps Officer senior management and/or frontline supervisors
Networks with non-Salvation Army government and community social agencies and service providers to coordinate resources for the benefit of clients
Engages in ongoing planning to ensure programming reflects client needs as these may evolve in our changing socioeconomic climate
Actively participates in the weekly Management and monthly Leadership Meeting
Negotiates contracts for approval by administration including Social Services Lease agreements and operational contracts such as HVAC water treatment snow cleaning electrical major renovations new construction etc.
Sources and maintains a list of qualified contractors for trades often needed
Arranges for purchases of major goods and services including recommendations for selection of contractors and supervision of them
Monitors the inventory of tools equipment and other assets and ensures that it is kept current; ensures that the annual inventory check is conducted and PMS is updated
Develops and implements operational plans for both maintenance and housekeeping including benchmarks for services and preventative scheduling for the structures mechanical plants vehicles telephone systems security systems computer and network systems laundry facilities video systems alarm systems kitchen facilities (including compressors fridges freezers stoves convection ovens furnishings etc.).
Performs other duties as assigned
CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
The Community Ministries Director will work alongside the Corps Officers and members of management group at Ocean Crest to ensure the Mission of The Salvation Army is carried out.

MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY:
Directly responsible hiring orientating training and evaluating concert with Territorial/Divisional standards and collective agreements
Directly responsible for discipline and termination in concert with Territorial standards; submits and acts on incident reports; deals with complaints with approval from the Corps Officer.
Actively participates in interviewing potential employees along with Employee Designate.
Provides direction and supervision to all Community Ministries Staff so that they may develop and to ensure that they work together to achieve the purpose of the organization and enhance the Mission of the Salvation Army.
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
The incumbent is directly for preparing annual budgets or revenue projections for the department; monitors departmental expenditure; may liaise with auditors or funding officials. He/She has input to new policies and procedures pertaining to the management of financial resources. Works with the Management Team in the preparation of an operating budget. Monitors and is directly responsible for the financial performance of the above programs.

Education Qualifications and Certifications:
The successful job applicant will have completed up to two (2) years of Community College. Business management would be an asset.
Food Safe Level I First Aid Certification WHIMIS Training ( will provide training ) Non-violent Crisis Intervention ( will provide training) Fluent spoken and written English Valid Drivers license and clean drivers abstract Criminal Record Check
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
One year but less than three years of prior related experience including experience in a wide range of social service programs managing people and resources and communicating orally and in writing with government officials and/or funders.

Compensation:
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
