The Team
The Programs Team of the correctional centre has a primary goal of ensuring that programs services leisure and work opportunities for inmates are provided in a meaningful and sustainable way. Team members deliver evidence-based programs aimed at helping inmates make decisions that support their health wellness and an overall goal of becoming productive members of their communities upon release from custody.
The Programs Team works collaboratively with contractors health service providers outside agencies and special interest groups to establish services and activities that enrich inmates lives and support personal growth and positive change. Members of the team also attend community events on behalf of the correctional centre and actively seek to build new or maintain existing relationships with community-based organizations and service adaptable and creative the Programs Team often provides guidance and support to community-based facilitators and service providers to ensure that programs and services run safely and effectively.

The Role
The Chaplain provides independent spiritual care and support to inmates their families and correctional staff reporting to the Deputy Warden of Programs. This inclusive non-denominational role offers one-on-one and group-based pastoral care facilitates services for diverse faith groups and develops programs for personal and spiritual growthincluding for those with no faith affiliation.
The Chaplain liaises with community faith leaders supports culturally safe practices and demonstrates a strong understanding of Indigenous culture and history. Responsibilities also include notifying inmates of family tragedies conducting services or funerals and assisting with compassionate or faith-related absences. The role supports the overall well-being of those in custody through holistic respectful and inclusive care.
