Job Description
Transylvania University () a top-tier independent residential liberal arts college of approximately 1000 students in Lexington Kentucky invites applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor of Biology teaching in-person classes beginning September 2 2025 and ending December 12 2025. Job Description:
The Biology Program seeks an instructor for BIO 1164 Biology and Human Concerns a non-majors biology course. This non-majors biology course is structured around a topic of the instructors interest which allows the students to learn about the scientific process and how data are used to understand the natural world. Previous courses have used diverse topics (e.g. Climate Change Dinosaurs and Infectious Disease) to teach the major concepts and approaches in biology. In addition to the lecture the instructor will also be responsible for teaching twelve 3-hour labs. Lab preparation is supported by a lab coordinator and work-study students.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. preferred but those in Ph.D. candidacy may be considered. Preference will be given to individuals with previous teaching experience.
