Job Description
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity.
- Diagnose and manage ocular diseases and conditions.
- Prescribe corrective lenses and optical aids.
- Perform diagnostic tests including refraction and tonometry.
- Educate patients on eye health hygiene and safety.
- Utilize advanced technology for eye examination procedures.
- Refer patients to ophthalmologists for advanced medical treatment.
- Maintain accurate patient records and treatment plans.
- Stay updated on emerging eye care technologies and practices.
- Monitor and manage post-treatment follow-ups for patients.
- Provide specialized care for contact lens fittings.
- Analyze test results and interpret medical data.
- Implement community outreach programs to promote eye health.
- Train and supervise optometric technicians or assistants.
- Adhere to regulatory standards and ethical guidelines in practice.
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
- State licensure to practice optometry.
- Knowledge of refractive surgery options and co-management.
- Experience in a clinical or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Strong understanding of eye anatomy and physiology.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in assessments.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and education.
- Ability to manage time effectively in a busy clinical environment.
- Skills in handling optical equipment competently.
- Proficient in interpreting and analyzing diagnostic tests.
