Role Responsibilities:
- Transcribe medical dictations from physicians and healthcare professionals accurately.
- Review and edit transcriptions for grammar punctuation and clarity.
- Maintain patient confidentiality while handling sensitive information.
- Ensure the proper use of medical terminology in all documentation.
- Organize and manage electronic and physical files for easy retrieval.
- Collaborate with medical staff to clarify any discrepancies in dictations.
- Adhere to time management protocols to meet transcription deadlines.
- Utilize document formatting standards for various healthcare documents.
- Stay updated with current medical knowledge and advancements relevant to transcription.
- Conduct research to enhance understanding of medical terms and procedures.
- Prepare final transcriptions for submission to healthcare providers.
- Respond to inquiries regarding transcription processes and protocols.
- Participate in training sessions to improve transcription accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure all transcription work complies with legal and regulatory standards.
- Assist in process improvement initiatives for transcription workflows.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in medical transcription preferred.
- Proven experience as a medical transcriptionist or in a related field.
- Excellent typing skills with a minimum typing speed of 60 words per minute.
- Strong command of medical terminology and familiarity with healthcare documentation.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in transcription work.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards.
- Proficient in using transcription software and word processing tools.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Good communication skills for collaboration with healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing workloads.
- Basic understanding of health information management and compliance regulations.
- Knowledge of common electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Capable of performing under pressure while maintaining quality.
- Strong editing and proofreading abilities.
- Familiarity with anatomy and physiology is a plus.
