Job Description

Location: 5 days On-site Toronto ON
Industry: Hospitality (Not-for-profit) but operate as a for profit
Reports to: CFO
Team: 2 Direct Reports Controller and amp; AR Manager) 8-9 Indirect (Finance Team of 1011

Our client a prestigious 145-year-old private club in Toronto serving over 12000 members and recognized for its excellence in hospitality social and athletic services is in search of a Controller. This is a place where excellence in hospitality meets a workplace culture thats genuinely supportive stable and people-first. Theyre looking for a Controller to lead a highly respected finance team through a period of smart transformation and reporting modernization.

This role is a permanent replacement the previous Controller went on mat leave and did not return. The team is stable motivated and ready for a new leader to help guide the next chapter of automation and reporting excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the full accounting cycle including AP AR payroll and GL
  • Lead budgeting forecasting and financial modeling processes
  • Drive automation of financial workflows (AP automation in progress)
  • Strengthen internal controls and update financial policies and procedures
  • Build and present clear financial reports for the Board of Directors
  • Support long-term capital planning and pension compliance
  • Manage and mentor a team of 1011 including two direct reports

Requirements:

  • CPA designation
  • Expertise in ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises)
  • Proven leadership of direct indirect teams in a finance environment
  • Experience with budgeting forecasting and year-end close
  • Passion for process improvement automation and internal controls
  • Bonus: SQL or financial automation tools
