Position Overview:
Transformco is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Lease Accounting Associate to support the accounting and reporting processes related to the company s real estate and equipment lease portfolio. This role will play a key part in ensuring compliance with ASC 842 (Lease Accounting Standard) maintaining accurate lease records and supporting the monthly close process.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and update lease accounting schedules in compliance with ASC 842.
Prepare and post journal entries related to lease liabilities right-of-use (ROU) assets rent expenses and lease incentives.
Assist with the monthly close process including account reconciliations for lease-related accounts.
Coordinate with the Real Estate Legal and Accounts Payable teams to ensure lease data is complete and accurate.
Monitor critical lease dates (e.g. commencements renewals expirations terminations) and ensure timely updates in lease accounting systems.
Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to information requests related to leases.
Assist with ongoing process improvements system enhancements and data validation efforts.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and company accounting policies.
Qualification & Experience Required:
Bachelor s degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
1 to 3 years of experience in accounting with exposure to lease accounting or real estate accounting.
Familiarity with ASC 842 and lease accounting principles.
Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets.
High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
Effective communication and organizational abilities.
Familiarity with NetSuite or similar ERP systems and lease accounting software (Yardi CoStar Visual Lease Lucernex or similar) is a prerequisite.
