POSITION SUMMARY

As a Safety Manager reporting to the Safety Director or Vice President of Field Operations your primary purpose is to make sure employees and subcontractor partners follow health and safety regulations and supervising operations to promote the wellbeing of the team. Using safety research to create policies that eliminate workplace hazards documenting accidents in the workplace and investigating the circumstances of an illness or injury are duties of this role. The Safety Manager is responsible for continuously monitoring and adapting safety procedures and operations to ensure a safe and fully compliant work environment for all employees subcontractors and clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Development implementation and administration of safety and quality and ALLY policies and procedures for all employees.
  • Develop and coordinate the safety strategy and tactical implementation for the assigned client site.
  • Collaborate with client staff on driving the safety culture to achieve an incident free workplace.
  • Recommend and implement safety programs to improve employee engagement and reduce the risk of safety incidents.
  • Attend Safety Committee meetings and others as required.
  • Work with corporate safety teams to ensure compliance reporting is completed on-time and proper implementation and adherence to safety programs
  • Establish and conduct training for all employees to meet safety quality and ALLY requirements.
  • Lead investigation of all safety incidents recommend robust corrective actions and work with the client staff ALLY teammates and subcontractor partners to implement actions.
  • Perform safety quality and audits throughout the client site report findings and take corrective action.
  • Maintain up-to-date inspection reports files quality programs and samples.
  • Lead and maintain ALLY programs to meet client requirements.
  • Facilitate and support internal and external audits.
  • Lead and/or support quality and non-conformance investigations.
  • Facilitate client questions by working with internal teams.
  • Collect organize analyze and report process data to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate and assist support departments with technical expertise for process improvements and environmental compliance.
  • Manage and oversee complete employee lifecycle for employees assigned on client site safety team.
  • Lead coach and manage direct reports to ensure alignment with organizational goals and professional growth.
  • Lead and support Continuous Improvement activities within the client site.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

  • Demonstrated experience with implementing and leading safety programs.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and ANSI requirements and policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to enforce safety protocols effectively and confidently.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach mentor and train various levels of employees.
  • Experience within an SQF or ISO regulated environment.
  • Proven track record of success executing high hazard prevention programs; specifically: LO/TO electrical safety confined space entry and fall protection.
  • A proven track record managing regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to work in a campus setting and corporate style environment.
  • Pharmaceutical or manufacturing experience (or similar) preferred.
  • Proficient skills with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) Jonas Premier and Microsoft Project. *Training will be made available for Computer

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree preferred with a minimum of five years of quality control management and/or safety leadership experience in a life science/corporate campus environment or relevant working experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with implementing and leading safety programs.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and ANSI requirements and policies. OSHA certification is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to enforce safety protocols effectively and confidently.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach mentor and train various levels of employees.
  • Experience within an SQF or ISO regulated environment. SQF certification is highly desired.
  • Experience leading or facilitating external third-party audits.
  • Skilled in various root cause analysis tools and methodologies.
  • 5 to 10 years of commercial construction safety experience.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Have a valid drivers license and properly maintained vehicle with the state minimum mandated levels of auto liability insurance.
  • When driving on company business a clean driving record valid drivers license properly maintained employee-owned vehicle with the state minimum mandated levels of auto liability insurance is required as a condition of employment.
  • Must be a team player.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job the Safety Specialist is required to sit for long periods of time and is occasionally required to stand; walking within a 400-acre campus; use hands to finger handle or feel objects reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and ladders; balance; stop kneel crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Safety Specialists are required to speak clearly so listeners can understand and hear clearly to understand the speech of another person. In this role an employee may also occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Client site pending work environments can involve some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures dirt dust fumes smoke unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.
