Beam Train Design & Assembly
Architect and assemble end-to-end optical paths: coatings mirrors fiber/optic interfaces alignment fixtures
Ensure power delivery and beam quality meet mission requirements
Automated Aiming & Targeting
Develop precision laser-aiming subsystems integrated with tracking and control systems
Implement dwell control and feedback loops for automated targeting
Materials Testing & Optimization
Plan and execute ablation and damage-threshold tests across different materials
Analyze data to improve optical designs thermal resistance and durability
Laser Architecture Trade Studies
Compare pulsed vs. CW systems and select wavelengths based on mission needs safety and supply chain constraints
Prototype Development & Field Trials
Build and iterate bench prototypes through dry-runs and live-fire range testing
Use field data to refine beam delivery and targeting subsystems
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with controls mechanical and sensor teams to synchronize laser outputs with targeting and navigation data
Documentation & Reporting
Author detailed technical reports alignment procedures test plans and system design updates
Present findings to stakeholders and help shape engineering specs
Qualifications :
47 years in high-power or directed-energy laser systems optical design or a related field
Hands-on with laser optics coatings mounts and fiber interfaces
Experience running and interpreting ablation and damage-threshold tests
Familiar with both pulsed and CW laser systems and related safety standards
BS/MS in Optical Engineering Physics Electrical Engineering or similar
Hyper Engineer you love building testing and iterating under real-world conditions
Strong analytical thinking cross-team communication and comfort working in experimental environments
Experience with field-deployed laser systems (DoD or industrial optics)
Knowledge of fiber handling and splicing
Exposure to environmental testing (vibration thermal shock)
Familiarity with ANSI Z136 laser safety standards and ITAR compliance
