The Opportunity and Job Description

P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School (DRS) is seeking to hire a Speech Language Pathologist for the 2025-2026 school year. Instructor responsibilities include the following:

  • Provides appropriate speech and language services for K-12 students
  • Administers speech/language evaluations to referred students analyzes and interprets the results in a written report
  • Collaborates with ESE Coordinator IEP managers Occupational Therapist school psychologist school counselors admin and other school personnel to provide high quality services for students and families
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers and IEP managers to design tier 2 interventions for students that are not meeting benchmarks
  • Active participant in K-12 student success team meetings
  • Works closely with the Director of PreK and classroom teacher to provide early interventions for PreK students
  • Conducts speech/hearing screenings and evaluations
  • Serves as an active participant on committees and school teams including those that investigate the special needs of students collaborates on classroom interventions
  • Observes the student in the classroom to determine observable learning styles behaviors personal characteristics and academic strengths and weaknesses
  • Develops and implements interventions in the classrooms to address special needs and concerns
  • Serves as a consultant for teachers parents and administrators to enhance the academic experience of individual students and to promote scholastic achievement in the educational setting
  • Participates in the Individualized Educational Plan Conference when requested to assist in the development of an appropriate educational program
  • Conferences with parents teachers community professionals and students where appropriate to explain results and discuss implications for instruction
  • Assists in meeting local state and federal regulations governing special education
  • Incorporates effective and innovative uses of technology to support teaching learning and collaboration
  • Maintains regular parent communication (electronically face-to-face conferences)
  • Participates in practitioner inquiry (research) to support continuous program improvement
  • Commits to continuous professional learning and ongoing reflection on effectiveness of practices and learning plans for assigned student

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with education & experience.

Minimum Requirements:
  1. A Masters degree; candidates with Bachelors degree will be considered but will be required to obtain a Masters degree within three years of hire.
  2. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  3. FDLE Background check
Preferred Qualifications:

3 years experience

Florida teaching certification; Subject area certification
