Job Description

The Chelmsford Public Schools is now accepting applications for the following vacancy. The District reserves the right to change this vacancy or not fill this vacancy based on further staffing changes enrollment or budget. Position: Mathematics Instructional SpecialistLocation: Elementary SchoolGeneral Description:* Assist building administrators and the department coordinator with the implementation of the mathematics curriculum at the elementary level.* Support expectations with the department for advances in instructional practice.* Collect and analyze diagnostic mathematics data and conduct data meetings with administrators and teachers. * Provide teachers with professional development in the implementation of new mathematics curriculum. * Provide teachers with professional development in mathematics instructional practices that are proven to raise student achievement. * Work with teachers to identify instructional practices that address at-risk students.* Oversee intensive mathematics interventions.* Provide demonstration lessons for teachers that exemplify the expected instructional practices.* Serve as a resource to teachers to support instructional strategies and work.* Facilitate and participate in department and district wide training as required. * Perform other instructional/curriculum responsibilities or program requirements as assigned by the principal/coordinator including requirements under Title I for mathematics.* Attend professional development training and workshops on selected mathematics curricula academic coaching and mentoring topics to serve as a conduit of information sharing and liaison with teachers to build capacity within the district. * Keep current in recommended instructional strategies through ongoing study and participating in workshops and conferences.
