We are looking for candidates who have a passion for helping our youth!

This is an INTERNAL POSTING open ONLY to current the NC Department of Public Safetys current employees and eligible RIF candidates.

Job duties for this position require driving a state vehicle. A valid drivers license must be obtained by date of hire.

This position will organize and direct a district court juvenile court counseling program which provides a comprehensive array of supportive services court-ordered supervision and treatment for delinquent and undisciplined juveniles. This position is responsible for directing and supervising juvenile court counseling services and community- based programs serving the district. Plan develop implement and evaluate programming and the delivery of services. Work involves coordinating workflow developing resources for juvenile programming and ensuring the quality and consistency of program services with general statutes and department standards. Employees develop community relations and manage activities with human service agencies community groups and schools and provide consultation to court and law enforcement officials.

Work schedule is from M-F 8am - 5pm flexible work schedule at times including after hours and participation in the on-call rotation is required. This position is located in District 12 Cumberland County.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Some state job postings say you can qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience. If that language appears below then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience OR a combination of both. See details.

Masters degree in a human service field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in counseling or working with the juvenile/family client population and/or related human service case management experience including one year in a supervisory or administrative role;
OR
Bachelors degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of experience in counseling or working with the juvenile/family client population and/or related human service case management experience including one year in a supervisory or administrative role.

Necessary Special Requirements Applicants for positions designated as Juvenile Court Counselors are subject to and must meet the hiring and training standards established by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission as defined in Title 12 Chapter 9 of the NC Administrative Code by the statutory authority of GS 17C.
