Job Description
To assure that the Employee is technically competent possesses required education and experience as well as other behavioral skills and performs their responsibilities accordingly. To demonstrate that the employees performance is evaluated and appropriate training- in service is provided. To assure that the employee is cognizant of the philosophy standards objectives and policies of the Department and the Hospital Center.
Responsibilities
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Dutiesmayinclude based on candidates experience: Chemistry Hematology Urinalysis Coagulation Blood Bank
- Type and Screen Crossmatching -Gel and tube technology.
- Assist in procedures quality control enter results into LIS follow Lab policy and manual differentials Knowledge of automated chemistry and hematology and instrumentation.
- Must perform maintenance and troubleshooting procedures as required.
- Performs Quality control and maintenance procedures as required.
- Must be proficient in manual differentials and body fluid cell counts.
- Chemistry Hematology Urinalysis Coagulation
- Performs all lab tests and procedures as they pertain to the specific activities of the blood bank: ABO/Rh typing Antibody screening Cross matches auto/directed units DAT testing
- Performs Quality control and maintenance procedures as required by the department. Performs manual differentials normal and abnormal cell counts coagulation procedures Urinalysis.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Department Manager
Qualifications
Requirements:
- NYS Licensed Medical TechnologistBS degree required in Science. ASCP preferred Experience preferred.
- Proficient in manual differentials andbody fluid cell count.
- Computer literate Excellent communication skills
