What youll do

Responsibilities

As a key member of our dedicated Student Services team reporting to the Manager of Student Services you will provide comprehensive support across a variety of essential functions. Your role will be multifaceted ensuring a seamless experience for students faculty staff and the public.

Primarily (approximately 60% of your time) you will focus on a full range of administrative support services with an emphasis on providing superior customer service. This includes:

  • Accurately and in a timely manner preparing confirmation of enrollment letters printing transcripts and maintaining current and historical student files.
  • Responding to walk-in requests phone calls and electronic inquiries related to student files programming tuition and other student payments and services at the College.
  • Assisting with enrolments and registrations for campus core programming and potentially supporting regional core program enrolments and registrations as required.
  • Providing crucial support for special events including but not limited to Convocation Orientation Open House Get Started and Wellness Week.
  • Organizing campus tours and the campus Test Drive program all while collaborating effectively with campus and provincial teams reflecting NSCCs Student Affairs integrated service delivery model.
  • Being fully cross-trained in supporting our student and administrative services teams ensuring flexibility and comprehensive support.

Additionally (approximately 40% of your time) you will contribute to the provision of Learning Support Services with a primary focus on Testing Services Tutoring Services and Educational Technology Services. In this capacity you will:

  • Administer the Testing Centre including the invigilation of internal and external testing.
  • Support approved test accommodations and address the assistive technology needs of students with disabilities.
  • Play a key role in the coordination delivery and promotion of services offered within the Learning Commons.
  • Oversee and administer relevant processes and procedures.
  • Liaise with faculty respond to inquiries make appropriate referrals and collect and record service delivery data.
  • Support various campus events activities and initiatives that enhance student learning and success.

What youll need

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a post-secondary certificate or diploma in Business Office Administration Adult Education Educational Technology Administrative and Business Services or Social Services Library Technician combined with a minimum of two years recent and related experience in a fast-paced office environment. Or you have the recognized equivalency of a high school diploma with significant (10) years of demonstrated administrative experience.
  • Occupational experience in the following would be considered an asset:
  • a front-line customer service role in a post-secondary institution
    • Front-line customer service in a post-secondary institution
    • Operating Point of Sale systems
    • Handling cash debit and credit card transactions
    • Working in a post-secondary institution or with adult learners.
    • Working in a test environment.
    • Working with students with disabilities.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite E-mail Microsoft Teams (or other video conference and instant messaging applications) and PeopleSoft (or other large enterprise information systems).
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work
  • Occupational experience that includes student testing proctoring the utilization of read and write software or direct experience with accessibility issues would be considered an asset
