Posted: July 2 2025 Closed: July 9 2025Employment Opportunity: Maple & Main retail store Presented by the RISE programPOSITION: Long-Term Substitute Retail ManagerThe RISE program inclusive of Maple & Main supports students between the ages of 18-22 with special abilities to successfully transition into Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a Long-Term Substitute Retail Manager for Maple & Main who will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the retail store staffed by students in our RISE program ages 18-22 with support from special education teachers and assistants/job focuses on ensuring students are able to be contributing members of society. A large part of this is to provide students with opportunities to be active in their local community and become familiar with their community at large. During their time at RISE students participate in community learning experiences volunteer and paid work opportunities and community-based leisure activities. Students practice the skills they have learned in the classroom and apply those skills in the natural community store contains retail space space for students to socialize when not working a classroom and offices as well as storage space and other facilities. This is a unique opportunity for somebody with both business skills and educational position would begin as soon as possible and will last for approximately 12 weeks. This position is not eligible for Hours (7/7/25-8/7/25)Monday - 10:00am-3:30pmTuesday - 10:00am-5:30pmWednesday 9:00am-3:30pmThursday 10:00am-5:30pmFriday 9:00am-12:30pmSaturday/Sunday ClosedSchool Year HoursSunday/Monday ClosedTuesday 10:00am-5:30pmWednesday 9:00am-3:30pmThursday 10:00am-5:30pmFriday 10:00am-3:30pmSaturday 9:00am-12:30pmThe pay rate for this position is $23.97-$29.10 per hour based on are interested in candidates who are invested in the achievement equity and access of all learners in and beyond the with diverse racial ethnic cultural religious class and/or gender background and experiences are strongly encouraged to Responsibilities:Manage and supervise the special education students who work in the shop providing natural support and guidance as needed with assistance from special education teachers and assistants/job with the RISE Coordinator and team to ensure the vision of this program is being met through students work conjunction with RISE staff develop daily tasks and responsibilities for students including; inventory restocking checking expiration dates cleaning organizing etc. Ensure that the shop is well stocked with inventory including ordering merchandise tracking inventory levels and coordinating with vendors and suppliers with assistance from students and special education the stores physical space including ensuring that it is clean and organized and that all displays are attractive and eye-catching with assistance from special education and implement marketing and promotional strategies to attract customers to the shop including advertising social media outreach and events with the assistance from special education administration teachers assistants and customer service issues including responding to complaints addressing concerns and resolving conflicts with assistance from the special education and maintain positive relationships with community members including parents educators and local the shops finances including monitoring sales and expenses preparing budgets and ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded in collaboration with the schools finance and operations regular reports to the school department and school administration on the shops that all special education students who work in the shop receive the necessary training and support to succeed in their roles in collaboration with the special education :Bachelors degree or Associates degree in business marketing education or relatedExperience in retail as an assistant manager or managerExperience working with special education students or a strong desire to work with this population with the ability to collaborate with special education teachers and assistants/job coachesTechnology skills including MS Word office suite of Google applicationsStrong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a ride range of stakeholders including students parents educators administrators and community membersExcellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyKnowledge of marketing and promotional strategies including social media outreach and event planningStrong financial acumen with the ability to monitor sales and expenses prepare budgets and ensure accurate financial record-keepingUnderstanding of special education laws and regulations or a willingness to learnExhibits the core values of Shrewsbury Public SchoolsWorks flexibly in a changing environmentApplication Process:Interested candidates should submit a cover letter resume official or unofficial copies of undergraduate/graduate transcripts license # or unofficial copy of license if applicable and three current professional letters of reference including one from a direct supervisor professor or apply via The Shrewsbury Public Schools is an affirmative action employer ensuring that its programs and facilities are accessible to the public.
