Job Description

Purpose of Role

Under general supervision the Head Womens Bowling Coach recruits student-athletes makes recommendations for scholarships coordinates practice locations schedules competition coordinates travel and conducts practices for the assigned athletic team. The head coach is expected to contribute to the educational mission of the University by placing an appropriate emphasis on athletics and academics.


About This Opportunity

Joining our Athletics team the Head Womens Bowling Coach will be responsible for the following:

Specific Tasks/Duties performed:

  • Contributes to the educational mission of the University by coordinating the instruction of student-athletes in the area of bowling training and competition;
  • Recruits student-athletes for the womens bowling program;
  • Instructs methods and strategies and coaches student-athletes in the sport;
  • Makes recommendations for scholarships;
  • Schedules practices including necessary facility rentals and competition;
  • Works with sport supervisor to identify Home Lane location and develops relationship with facility to create rental agreement document for practice as well as competition;
  • Coordinates travel necessary for practices and competition (ex: van bus/air hotel meals etc.);
  • Transports and supervises student-athletes while on the road for all practices and competitions
  • Participates in sport specific and department-wide fundraising initiatives;
  • Works with sport supervisor to monitor specific sport budget to ensure fiscal responsibility for all aspects of program including facility rental;
  • Operates the program under the rules and regulations of Daemen University the NCAA and the ECC; understanding that a coach can be suspended for a period of time without pay or terminated if found to be involved in significant or repetitive violations of NCAA regulations;
  • Responsible for providing all material relevant to the team (rosters with hometowns high schools etc. and schedules) in a timely manner before the beginning of the season to the athletic communications office. Coordinates the manner in which team scores will be reported to the media for home and away games with athletic communications;
  • Faculty and staff are expected to maintain the confidentiality of all confidential and proprietary information (including but not limited to: student personal information student grades employee personal information etc.) both during and after their employment with the University. If a faculty or staff member has a question about the confidentiality of a particular matter he/she should consult their supervisor. Any violation of this rule shall subject the faculty /staff member to disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination of employment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the sport supervisor or Director of Athletics

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal organizational written and oral communication skills.
  • Evidence of and ability to articulate a strong current practical knowledge of the sport of bowling.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully coach college level student-athletes.
  • Knowledge of coaching and teaching techniques and the ability to effectively use them.
  • Ability to work evenings weekends and holidays when necessary.
  • Ability to drive a personal or university vehicle for the purpose of university business on a regular basis and ability to travel when necessary.
  • Knowledge of recruiting techniques and the ability to effectively use them.
  • Current certification in CPR AED and First Aid.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in related fields is required with coaching experience.
  • At least one year of head coaching experience in Womens Bowling at the collegiate or higher competitive level of high school or two-year college.
  • Valid drivers license required. License must meet insurance company rules and regulations for driving underwriting criteria.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters degree in related field and three years of head coaching experience.


Position is Part-Time and requires evening and weekend hours and travel.
