Ring is seeking a Software Development Engineer II (SDE II) to join the Ring Pioneer Team our innovative group focusing on new AI/ML cloud initiatives. This team develops and deploys machine learning solutions that will enhance Rings intelligent features across our product ecosystem. This position is open for locations in Southern California (greater Los Angeles county and Orange county areas) as well as Northern California in Silicon Valley.
As part of the Ring Pioneer Team the ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about AI/ML technologies innovative detail-oriented and eager to contribute to cloud-based machine learning projects. You should be comfortable working with emerging AI technologies participating in proof-of-concepts and helping translate them into scalable solutions. You take ownership of your work and are committed to improving ML model performance scalability and responsible AI practices.
Key job responsibilities:
Contribute to the design and development of AI services in cloud environments (AWS) with a focus on implementing novel applications
Assist in the technical implementation of ML systems including model training pipelines and inference services
Help identify and evaluate new AI/ML technologies assessing their potential applications for Ring products
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Data Scientists Product Managers and other ML Engineers to implement AI-driven features
Apply and help improve MLOps practices including techniques for efficient experimentation and transition to production
Actively participate in code reviews and contribute to improving the overall quality of the teams codebase
Provide input on both software engineering and machine learning best practices within the team
Assist in the operation and monitoring of experimental ML services as they transition to production environments
Stay current with AI/ML advancements and share knowledge with the team
Contribute to the documentation of systems and processes

- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
