Public Academy for Performing Arts is looking for a secondary math teacher. Requires NM secondary teaching license with secondary mathematics endorsement.
Requires Masters degree in Mathematics. Six years of teaching experience in Geometry Algebra II and ability to teach dual credit math courses with cooperating post-secondary
institution. Leadership role experience such as department lead/chair preferred. Experience with evidence-based Tiers 2 and 3 mathematics interventions.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Education/License Requirements New Mexico secondary teaching license with endorsement in secondary mathematics. Masters degree in mathematics and ability to teach on-site dual credit/concurrent enrollment courses in conjunction with local post-secondary institution. A minimum of six years teaching experience at secondary level.
Experience providing evidence-based interventions for students who need additional assistance in math.
Proficient with use of technology to enhance instruction including providing active virtual engagement for ill students record keeping and planning.
The math teacher will create a student-centered Common Core mathematics standards-based educational environment where all students can succeed at an advanced level.
The teacher will provide standards-based mathematics instruction of assigned students keeping within the law council policies individual education plans and administrative regulations.

Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. Plan and implement a mathematics program of study following state and school goals/curriculum that meet the individual needs and development of students.
Establish and maintain an effective learning climate in the school and guide the learning process
toward the achievement of mathematics standards benchmark and curriculum goals.
Utilize varied instructional strategies and methods to enhance the learning process for all students.
Establish clear objectives for all instructional units projects and lessons to communicate these goals and objectives to students. Interpret and implement all state regulations council policies and administrative directives.
Diagnose the needs and abilities of assigned students and prescribe appropriate learning activities for each student. Evaluate each students growth periodically and develop instructional plans (based on evaluation results) for the future.
Assist in the development revisions and evaluation of the curriculum and instructional services.
Assist in the development of school plans and organizational procedures for the health safety discipline and conduct of students as established in school procedures.
Serve as liaison between the school and community interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging parent involvement with the school.
Provide direction to others and to make independent judgments.
Work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students parents teachers and community members.
Maintain confidentiality when dealing with student staff and/or parent information.
Communicate with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds.
Keep and maintain accurate records and to meet deadlines.
Successfully meet the requirements of the current teacher evaluation system.
Attend staff meetings and professional development and serve on committees as required.
