Description The Emerson Test & Measurement/National Instruments (NI) Transportation Business Unit Customer Centric Solutions Team is seeking to hire an experienced Senior Systems Design Engineer (Electrical) to work on custom solution projects that enable the sale of standard NI Products! The primary responsibilities of this position are to work with NI customers sales personnel engineering teams partners and contract manufacturers to define document design deploy and sustain NI systems tailored to meet specific customer requirements for large-scale turnkey engineering solutions in the automotive industry. The ideal candidate has experience and knowledge regarding NI products and system-level design.
In This Role Your Responsibilities Will Be:
This is a multi-functional role dealing with diverse engineering needs including the ability to gather requirements generate specification documents and collaborate with integration partners contract manufacturers and internal personnel to design deploy and sustain custom solutions worldwide. This high-visibility role within NI requires daily interaction with NI customers partners NI Sales Teams NI Engineering Teams and Executive Management. The role will include:
- Interacting with a wide variety of NI customersNI staff external partners and suppliers in support of designing implementing and sustaining custom solutions
- Specifying and defining system configurations and electrical/electronic designs as part of systems and solutions
- Generating requirements documents statements of work and Bills of Materials
- Prototyping testing and deploying turnkey automated solutionsin the Automotive industry
- Defining and implementing project plans managing milestones and holding reviews to ensure systems meet requirements and readiness for deployment
- Directing support personnel managing project technical deliverables guiding technical decisions and driving field-found issues to resolution
- Traveling as needed (possibly up to 25%) domestically and abroad in support of project objectives

For This Role You Will Need:
- B. S. Degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering Mechatronics or Electronics Engineering Technology
- Minimum of 7 years relevant industry experience in a Hardware Systems Design Role or a Test Engineering Design Role
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering electronics & computer architectures
- Understanding of high-level programming languages (LabVIEW TestStand C/C/C#)
- Demonstratedunderstanding of the following concepts and principles:
- Appropriate selection of instrumentation and equipmentto meet system requirements
- Understanding of schematics wiring diagrams and signal routing
- Measurement methodologies and sources of measurement error
- Integration of hardware and software
- Bill of Materials creation and review
- Familiarity with CAD and PCB design tools
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
- Hands-on use of schematic capture tools and PCB design tools
- Knowledge in Component Supplier Selection
- Knowledge in Compliance Certifications (CE UL TUV Etc.)
- Hands-on use of NI Hardware Platforms and Instruments
- Hands-on use of NI LabVIEW and Test Stand
- SolidWorks Electrical with 3D plugin
- Experience working with contract manufacturers and internal Manufacturing groups
