Contract salary and benefits per negotiated agreement.
Supervises:
Educational assistants (para-professionals)/volunteers/student teachers
Qualifications:
Must hold a valid Ohio Teaching License and/or the
appropriate Endorsement and Authorization for the assignment.
Bachelors Degree in education from an accredited college or University
Prefer at least 3 years teaching experience in the area of literacy
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may
find appropriate and acceptable.
Job Goal:
Provides intensive reading instruction to struggling readers.
General Description:
Provides intensive reading instruction to struggling readers.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Increase the quality and effectiveness of the classroom instruction
- Align instruction with curriculum to meet the needs of all students
- Ensures implementation of adopted curriculum
- Designs collaborative job embedded standards-based professional learning
- Ensures that student achievement data drives instructional decisions at the classroom and school level
- Works collaboratively with the schools leadership to design implement and assess school change initiatives to ensure alignment and focus intended results
- Expands teachers use of a variety of resources to improve instruction
- Models continuous learning to keep current and to be a thoughtful leader in the school
- Leads and coordinates building and district professional development based on the needs as expressed through data
- Identify instructional supports that are aligned with the school and district literacy plan
- Work with content area teachers on implementing disciplinary literacy practices
- Work with students in small groups providing reading interventions
- Model and co-teach lessons in the classroom on a daily/weekly basis. Components of modeling include: planning with the teacher or team prior to teaching the lesson delivering and co-delivering the lesson debriefing with the teacher or team and coaching/mentoring the teacher teaching follow-up lessons
- Identify instructional strengths of individual teachers and assist in identifying effective teachers and model classrooms
- Support and collaborate with classroom teachers through coaching in the classroom
- Continue to support the maintenance and purchases for the building bookroom
- Collect and analyze data
- Facilitate the examination and assessment of student work to determine if it meet the standards
- Assist the principal and leadership team in the disaggregation of student performance data by area of need and coaching teachers in that area of need.
- Collaborate with the school leadership team to establish school culture of trust so that coaching is viewed in a positive manner by teachers and a vehicle to assist teachers in improving practice
- Cultivate a culture that supports innovation and collective efficacy
- Serves on the Building Leadership Team
- Ensure the safety of students
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
Required knowledge skills and abilities:
- Maintain appropriate licenses/endorsements and training hours as required.
- Comply with applicable District state local and federal laws rules and regulations.
- Adhere to all standards established by the Ohio Department of Education for Licensed Educators.
- Maintain good attendance and punctuality.
- Maintain knowledge of academic area teaching methodology and strategies to engage students.
- Ability to work effectively with others.
- Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Exhibit professional behavior emotional stability and sound judgement.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect for confidential information at all times.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships.
- Attends meetings professional development and serves on staff committees as required.
- Interacts in a positive manner with staff students and parents.
- Refer suspected cases of child abuse immediately to the appropriate child protective services/law enforcement agency as mandated by state law and Board of Education policy.
- Promote good public relations by personal appearance attitude and conversation.
- Attend any required State Literacy Grant meetings and complete reports
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect district equipment materials and
facilities.
