This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted. No relocation is offered.

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing implementing and maintaining Cassandra database clusters to ensure high availability performance and scalability. This role involves monitoring and optimizing the performance of Cassandra databases troubleshooting and resolving issues and developing and implementing backup and recovery strategies.

The Database Engineer will collaborate with development teams to design and optimize data models and queries ensuring data security and compliance with industry standards and best practices. Additionally the role includes automating routine tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention. Providing technical support and guidance to other team members and stakeholders is also a key responsibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Design implement and maintain Cassandra database clusters to ensure high availability performance and scalability.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of Cassandra databases including troubleshooting and resolving issues.
  • Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies for Cassandra databases.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design and optimize data models and queries.
  • Ensure data security and compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Automate routine tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other team members and stakeholders.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in Cassandra and related technologies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a System Engineer with a focus on Cassandra database management.
  • Strong knowledge of Cassandra architecture data modeling and query optimization.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix operating systems and shell scripting.
  • Experience with monitoring and performance tuning tools for Cassandra.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS Azure GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g. Docker Kubernetes).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Our Senior Member of Technical Staff earns between $132400.00 - $222400.00 USD Annual not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography experience expertise and education/training.
