In this role you will develop and verify embedded firmware in C and C for our new sensor products. We use STM32 microcontrollers in our products. The firmware architecture is a C wrapper around Zephyr RTOS adding driver abstraction a unit test framework async messaging and common utilities. We run a Kanban process on stories managed using Jira bitbucket for source control verification testing using Test Rail for testing that cannot be done using unit test frameworks automated build servers etc.

In This Role Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Design and code firmware for new hardware and improvement projects either alone or within a small team.
  • Specify execute and review appropriate verification tests and results.
  • Apply an appropriate level of design rigour and review communicating the justification for design decisions clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Collaborate with in-house and subcontract electronics designers to shape relevant specification and acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with internal groups providing firmware and software which can be reused or interfaced with.
  • Collaboration with other engineers on designs and testing approaches.
  • Review the code designs and tests done by other firmware engineers
  • Embed relevant knowledge within the business in the form of comments documentation and training presentations.

For This Role You Will Need:

  • University background in electronics computer science with specialization in embedded firmware or similar relevant degree
  • Proficient in C/C
  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Fluency in English language
  • Experience with digital communication protocols (I2C SPI)

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Knowledge of STM32 microprocessors
  • Experience of firmware development firmware development tools (JIRA GitHub Jenkins etc.) and processes (Kanban AgileTest Driven Development etc.)
  • Knowledge of QSPI
  • Experience of manual and automated firmware test
  • Awareness of cyber security (and in particular the CRA) on development environment and product requirements
