KEY OBJECTIVE:
In this role you will be responsible for the day to day legal and administrative support for Chubb Insurance Company of Canadas (CICCs) House Counsel practicing civil litigation with a focus on subrogated claims (plaintiff) litigation.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Opening organizing and maintaining legal files using ProLaw;
  • Docketing time maintaining lawyers calendars;
  • Arranging discovery mediations and pre-trials;
  • Preparation of pleadings affidavits of documents motions and briefs;
  • Fulfillment of undertakings;
  • Typing legal documents and correspondence as required;
  • Instituting and maintaining office procedures;
  • Preparation of required departmental reports;
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of department case management system;
  • Processing legal department bills;
  • Processing of file expense summaries;
  • Additional general office duties as may be required.


Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a law clerk legal assistant paralegal or similar; previous experience in civil litigation preferred;
  • Completion of post-secondary education;
  • Thorough understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure and the litigation process in Ontario;
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team;
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and handle confidential information;
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite good typing skills and adaptability to technology;
  • Excellent proofreading skills with demonstrated excellent attention to detail;
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills;
  • Ability to prioritize workflows and initiate processes as required.
