We are now looking for an audio producerto work alongside senior and executive producers to plan record and edit primarily reactive episodes of Today in Focus.

Youll work with the Today in Focus hosts and our talented team of producers as part of the audio team covering national and international news as well as other areas of Guardian coverage including technology culture and sport with the Guardians journalists reporters and columnists.

This is a 3 day per week 12 month fixed term contract or staff secondment.

About the Role

  • Part of a team responsible for production of the Guardians Today in Focus podcast
  • Generating ideas for podcast episodes researching briefing presenters and guests for interviews recording in studio remotely and on location scripting editing and mixing to professional standards often on tight deadlines
  • Booking on-air talent both internal and external
  • Working closely with senior and executive producers to guarantee the highest levels of creativity editorial and legal standards

About You

  • Experience of working in radio news podcasting or audio feature making.
  • Ability to work to regular tight deadlines.
  • Experience in editing packages or documentary audio.
  • Experience with audio editing software: able to edit smoothly and accurately at pace.
  • Experienced in news or current affairs journalism and popular culture.
  • Ideally youll have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to this role
