Working Hours: Summer - Monday to Thursday 07.30am to 04.15pm Friday 2pm Winter - Monday to Thursday 08am to 04.15pm Friday off

Thank you for your interest in the post of Labourer with Historic Environment Scotland that will be based in Stirling. This is apermanent position.
The Monument Conservation Unit (MCU) based at Stirling Castle is tasked with the responsibility for conservation maintenance and presentation works at Stirling Castle one of Historic Environment Scotlands flagship monuments. You will assist with conservation and routine maintenance works to HES monuments in the Stirling Depot area including Argylls Lodging Mars Wark and Stirling Old Bridge.

Key Responsibilities of this role
The main duties of the labourers post include:
- Providing semi-skilled assistance to enable the stonemasons to carry out their conservation duties including the mixing of traditional mortars.
- Transporting MCU staff plant equipment and materials from depot to various Historic Environment Scotland sites.
- Carry out routine maintenance and cleaning at the sites ensuring continued high standards of presentation of the Properties in Care.
- Carry out ad-hoc grass cutting duties and grounds maintenance to assist in the presentation of sites.
- Maintain personal responsibility for Health & Safety and that of members of the public and fellow employees.
- Keep the working site clean and tidy and ensure that access/egress to working areas are always maintained.
- Assist Storeman with ad-hoc duties and maintenance at our central depot.
- Carry out waste removal from site to central depot for uplift.
- Assist with setting up and transferring temporary structures e.g. Herras fencing
- Weeding of low-level masonry moss removal from low level wall heads.
- Preforming set up and derig of events often out with standard working hours.

Essential Criteria:
Excellent teamworking skills.
Ability to follow written & spoken instructions.
Comfortable working at height.
Mixing of both lime and cement mortars and transportation to and from working area.
Operation of basic plant equipment & power tools.
Experience of general labouring practices.
Providing semi-skilled assistance to enable trades to carry out their duties.
Maintain individual responsibilities for health & safety awareness and the health and safety of members of the public and fellow employees.
Ability to carry out all operations in a considerate and courteous manner.
Delivery of an effective and appropriate service to all service users fairly and without discrimination.
Full UK Driving Licence
