Located on the North Shore of New Orleans Covington Behavioral Health is the ideal provider for individuals who have been struggling with acute changes in their emotional and mental well-being and who can benefit from comprehensive psychiatric services and therapeutic interventions that are designed to provide stability while improving each patients potential for experiencing enhanced quality of life.
Psychiatric patients require care from specialty-trained professionals in a highly-specialized and quality-focused environment. We are currently seeking to add a Full-Time Inpatient Psychiatrist with experience working with children and adolescents to our skilled and patient focused team.

About the role:
The Psychiatrist is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses through a combination of personal counseling (psychotherapy) psychoanalysis hospitalization and/or medication.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing clinical services to patients at the facility.
- Practice within medical protocols defined by federal and state regulations as well as by corporate facility policy or procedures.
- Review medical information on patients to ensure medical stability and to offer medical recommendations.
- Evaluate patients for mental emotional or behavioral disorders.
- Treat or direct treatment of patients utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications.
- Review and complete medical information for individual care plans documents services and information in a timely manner.
- Maintain confidential documentation compliance and billing in accordance with the policy and procedures.
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD or DO) required.
- One or more years post graduate degree practice preferred.
- Licensed in the state in which the facility(s) operate.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Board certification in psychiatry
- Current DEA credentials to prescribe controlled substances without restrictions and per regulation within the state in which the practitioner will be working.
