Job Description
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in North Yorkshire to assist with the appointment of an Accountant on a 3-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: 22.70 - 28.78 per hour
Summary:
As part of the Councils wide-ranging transformation programme following re-organisation from April 2023 we are seeking qualified accountants to provide high-quality financial support to service managers across various directorates. The successful candidates will play a key role in budget setting in-year budget monitoring financial forecasting and year-end financial accounts while contributing to broader strategic and transformational financial planning.
Responsibilities:
- Support transformational change projects providing financial insight and modelling to aid effective decision-making.
- Prepare financial statements statutory returns and ad-hoc financial reports as required.
- Support the development of business cases and financial models to evaluate commercial ventures or service redesigns.
- Ensure financial management practices align with council policy professional standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Use a range of financial systems and ensure integrity of data accuracy of reporting and adherence to internal control frameworks.
Qualifications:
- Full or part-qualified accountant (e.g. CCAB/CIMA or equivalent).
- Proven experience working in a financial management role within a local authority or public sector organisation.
- Experience in analysing complex financial data and providing advice to service managers.
- Demonstrated ability to support and influence decision-making in a professional and constructive manner.
- Experience of working on financial aspects of transformation or service improvement projects (desirable).
