Job Description
Welder - Kalamazoo MI
Shifts will vary
Pay based on experience
Job Duties
- Interpret Blueprints: Study and interpret blueprints sketches and specifications to determine the appropriate welding techniques and procedures.
- Prepare Materials: Select and prepare materials for welding including cleaning cutting and shaping metal components.
- Operate Welding Equipment: Set up and operate welding equipment such as arc welders gas welders and plasma cutters in compliance with safety standards and welding procedures.
- Perform Welding Techniques: Perform various welding techniques including arc welding MIG welding TIG welding and oxy-acetylene welding to join metal components with precision and accuracy.
- Inspect Welds: Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet required specifications and quality standards including checking for defects and performing necessary repairs or adjustments.
- Maintain Equipment: Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Follow Safety Procedures: Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries including wearing appropriate protective gear and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Collaborate with Team Members: Work collaboratively with other team members such as fabricators engineers and supervisors to plan and execute welding projects efficiently.
- Document Work: Maintain accurate records of welding activities including materials used time spent on projects and any relevant observations or issues encountered.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends advancements in welding technology and best practices to enhance skills and improve welding techniques.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional vocational training or certification in welding is preferred.
- Proven experience as a welder preferably in a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Proficiency in various welding techniques including arc welding MIG welding TIG welding and oxy-acetylene welding.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints schematics and technical drawings.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and knowledge of safety protocols and procedures related to welding operations.
- Excellent physical fitness and stamina to perform welding tasks including standing bending lifting and working in various positions for extended periods.
- Keen attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality welds with precision and accuracy.
- Effective problem-solving skills to troubleshoot welding issues and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and communicate clearly with supervisors and other stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications in welding (e.g. AWS Certified Welder) are advantageous.
- Ability to life and or move up to 50lbs throughout the entire shift.
- Ability to stand walk bend and stoop.
- Ability to use hands to finger handle and feel.
- Specific vision depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.
- Ability to understand and communicate(talk-read-hear)work instructions.
