Job Description

Description

Responsible for receiving and analyzing incident and arrest reports and performing quality assurance checks and audits to determine the appropriate federal offense category for each incident and to ensure all required data elements have been entered and coded appropriately in the Records Management System (RMS) and other databases.

Duties

  • Performs advanced administrative and technical work in the review and coding of police reports for National Incident Based Reporting System/Florida Incident Based Reporting System guidelines (NIBRS/FIBRS).
  • Updates specific statistical requirement reports: Supplemental Homicide Report and Law Enforcement Officers Killed or Assaulted (LEOKA) report for submission to FDLE with further dissemination to the FBI UCR program.
  • Submits monthly Hate Crimes Cargo Theft Human Trafficking and Use of Force reports to FDLE with further dissemination to the FBI UCR program.
  • Demonstrates and uses multiple sources of information as a part of the analytic process
  • Uses computerized visualizations and analytic tools
  • Liaise with peers other agency representatives and professional organizations
  • Identifies gaps in information and recommendations
  • Records tracks and follows up on incoming correspondence and action documents to ensure timely response or actions consistent with agency policies and all applicable state statutes.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of the information while utilizing it in accordance with agency policies/procedures and applicable state and federal laws that regulate confidential intelligence information gathering and dissemination.
  • Maintain the integrity of intelligence records by maintaining the physical security of the records reviewing existing files to ensure appropriate content purging obsolete files and disseminating intelligence data in a manner that is consistent with agency policies and procedures and state and federal guidelines for the dissemination of intelligence information.
  • Assist in developing and implementing crime prevention programs and strategies.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of law enforcement programs and interventions.
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify emerging crime trends and inform resource allocation.
  • Runs and submits periodic UCR reports to FDLE
  • Communicates with Patrol and Investigations for report corrections
  • Daily completion of name candidating
  • Merge duplicate name records within RMS
  • Case management review with Patrol and Investigations
  • Provides report creation for non-customary requests for information for public and internal requests using various applications such as Crystal Reports and/or Tableau

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Associates degree or two (2) years of research and data analysis experience.
  • Ability to obtain CJIS Security Awareness certification
  • SQL Query knowledge preferred
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Management Studio preferred
  • Familiarity with Business Intelligence (BI) Software such as Tableau preferred
  • Familiarity with statistical concepts such as descriptive and inferential statistics

Qualifications and Requirements for All Positions

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products
  • Speak and understand the English language
  • The following items (or authorized equivalents) may be required at various steps in the application process:

    4. Form DD214 for all periods served in the military
    5. GED or High School Diploma and Sealed Transcripts from the highest level of education
    6. FDLE Authority for Release (notarized)

Supplemental Information

Salary is negotiable for full-time positions prior to initial hire if requested based on verified experience up to step five (5) of the assigned pay grade. Current employee salary changes are determined based on internal methodology. Please contact Human Resources with any questions.
