About the Role:

The client is seeking a Software Defined Radio (SDR) Development Engineer. This full-time on-site role focuses on developing SDR systems for military communications and radar. Candidates must have experience in software development embedded systems and SDR frameworks along with an active DoD clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design develop and maintain SDR software and firmware solutions for military applications.
  • Work with Xilinx-based FPGA projects and other embedded system components to support system integration and testing.
  • Write and maintain software documentation including requirements flow diagrams user guides and other technical documents.
  • Manage and track software bugs features releases and sprints using tools such as JIRA.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful software integration and system performance.
  • Troubleshoot debug and resolve issues related to SDR systems digital RF data and DSP algorithms.
  • Utilize Linux OS environments for software development and testing including compiling C projects and using Linux command line utilities.
  • Contribute to SDR development using frameworks like GNU Radio USRP/UHD RTL-SDR and Epiq SDR development kits.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest SDR technologies communication systems and radar signal processing techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical or computer engineering with 5 years of relevant development experience is required (experience with embedded systems is a plus).
  • Experience in accurately documenting software (requirements flow diagrams readme users guide etc.) and managing software bugs features epochs sprints and releases using tools (e.g. JIRA) is required.
  • Experience with VHDL Verilog or MATLAB System Generator with competency in learning developing and maintaining existing source code and Xilinx based FPGA projects is required.
  • Experience in Linux OS environment with advanced competency in installing and using software from Linux repositories and source code such as building a C project from source with Make as well as using Linux command line utilities is required.
  • Experience in one or more SDR frameworks such as GNU Radio USRP/UHD RTL-SDR and Epiq SDR development kits is required.
  • Experience with commercial communication systems and/or radar signal processing is preferred and the ability to manipulate digital RF data with DSP algorithms and codec processing is a plus.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI Clearance upon hire (TS/SCI preferred).
