Join University of Chicago Medicineas anAdvanced Practice Provider at our new Crown Point Indiana location

As the Advanced Practice Provider youwill beresponsible for comprehensive direct patient care management in the general medicine patient population. The APP will manage a caseload of patients and exerciseautonomous decision making in the assessment diagnosis and initiation of delegated medical treatments. Additionally you willprovide healthcare and patient services that may include educational research and clinical nursing specialist support and completing administrative activities under the direction and supervision of the Director/leadership.

Advanced Practice Provider Essential Job Functions

  • Taking patient history conducting examinations diagnosing illness
  • Pre and post-operative patient evaluation and ordering and interpreting laboratory tests
  • Ability to exercise autonomy in medical decision-making provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services
  • Assessment planning intervention and evaluationof care on an advanced level

Nurse Practitioner Required Qualifications

  • Masters of Science in Nursing or Doctorate in Nursing Practice
  • Current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois RN and APN licensure/registration
  • Must be certified as an Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
  • Must have or be able to qualify for Illinois and DEA prescribing numbers
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years inpatient general medicine or hospital medicine experience as a PA or NP.
  • Must have AGACNP certification but FNP or ANP will be considered with relevant experience as a PA or NP.
  • Current BLS/ACLS certification

Physician Assistant Required Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Masters program
  • Current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois PA licensure / registration
  • Must have or be able to qualify for Illinois and DEA prescribing numbers
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years inpatient general medicine or hospital medicine experience as a PA or NP.
  • Must have AGACNP certification but FNP or ANP will be considered with relevant experience as a PA or NP.
  • Current BLS/ACLS certification

Position Details

  • Registry 0.1 FTE
  • Unit/Department: Micro-hospital Crown Point Indiana
  • Non-Union
  • Rounding on the in patients in the micro hospital daily (1-3 hours daily depending on census)
  • Collaborative agreement/overseen by the hospitalist group

Compensation & Benefits Overview

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
