Job Description

Job Responsibilities

This position is located at The SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health Beckman Center for Mental Health Services. Greenwood Mental Health Clinic 1547 Parkway Greenwood SC 29646. Services will be provided in Greenwood Laurens and Newberry.

The Office of Mental Healths mission is to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses. We provide a complete array of medical and support services for children adults and families throughout South Carolina.

Under limited supervision the psychiatrist will perform responsibilities for the psychiatric and medical treatment of patients of the Beckman Center for Mental Health Services to include interviewing examining diagnosing and treating mental health disorders of patients. In addition the psychiatrist will perform professional duties requiring the analysis of a broad spectrum of problems and the planning of various interrelated activities within the facility. Other responsibilities will be performed to include consultations to other clinical professional staff members assisting with staff training and acting as a community liaison.

Responsibilities for the Psychiatrist:

  • Conduct psychiatric/medical assessments both routine and emergency prescribes and monitors medications.
  • Conduct meetings with multidisciplinary treatment team to monitor progress discuss patients needs facilitate the development and comprehensive individualized service plan.
  • Act as a resource consultant to all professional staff consults with staff on specific patient problems in unusual and difficult situations and cases.
  • Participate in the administrative process as related to overall job functions attends medical staff meetings.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • Licensed to practice in South Carolina.
  • Completion of required residency in psychiatry.
Additional Requirements
  • Must qualify for credentialing and privileging as a psychiatrist in accordance with Quality Assurance standards and with concurrence by OMH Office of Quality Management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years direct patient care experience is strongly preferred.
  • Board certification in psychiatry is strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

  • Position is considered essential and may be called back during crises/disasters/emergencies.
