Job Description

SUMMARY:

Provides instruction training and resources to facilitate the work of Keller ISD in improving instruction in classrooms through coaching consulting collaborating and co-teaching as well as to align professional learning with District and campus goals. Promotes highly effective teaching practices classroom management through highly engaging lessons and meaningful technology integration.

  • Model KISD core organizational beliefs and values; perform duties effectively and efficiently for the purpose of supporting and contributing to high student achievement.
  • Provide program support and service delivery; communicate effectively within and across teams and participate in cross-functional work groups.
  • Maintain a commitment to the District mission; model District expectations through personal leadership and actively support the efforts of others to achieve District goals.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Training

  • Develop and train instructional staff to effectively incorporate the use of technology into instructional programs and curriculum.
  • Provides input in the development of a system-wide and building level programs that enable students to use technology as learning tools.
  • Teaches demonstration lessons with the teacher taking over class instruction after the demonstration.
  • Provides training for teachers in Digital Literacy.
  • Provides training to teachers to ensure integration of student computer competencies as outlined by the state.

Instructional and Program Management

  • Investigates and disseminates information on best practices for technology integration sources of information on trends research and applications related to technology use in the school program.
  • Gathers information documenting the effectiveness of the program interprets this information and provides constructive input in evaluation of the program.
  • Participates in the development of activities that help integrate technology into various curriculum areas at the local and state level.
  • Maintains current knowledge of technology and instructional practices that relate to the use of technology.
  • Provides resource information relating to new techniques and practices that relate to the use of technology and that enable students to use technology as a learning tool. Communicates with school and District personnel parents and community to share information about the technology program.
  • Serves as liaison between the District and local state and federal agencies.
  • Assists with special projects i.e. telecommunications multimedia etc.
  • Works with the school media persons to maintain accurate records involving computer use inventory and maintenance.

Staff Development

  • Teaches formal workshops for renewal credit and mini sessions on single topics for the staff of assigned schools.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of technology professional development.

Budget and Inventory

  • Assesses the needs plans for new technology and communicates these to the appropriate personnel or technology committee.

Policy Reports and Law

  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Develop and maintain systems for retrieval of information in support of all programs; compile maintain file and secure all physical and computerized reports records and other required documents.
  • Pursue Professional Development activities for self and assigned staff; ensure that Professional Development activities are aligned with District goals and initiatives and current professional research.
  • Comply with all policies operating procedures legal requirements and verbal and written directives.

  • Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
  • Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelors degree in education supplemented by specialized computer courses
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of successful teaching experience in related field
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills knowledge and abilities.

SPECIAL KNOWLEGDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of federal state and local policies and procedures regarding educational technology.
  • Knowledge of the current literature trends and developments in the field of educational technology.
  • Knowledge of the appropriate uses of technology for instruction in various subject areas.
  • Knowledge of computer technology and multiple hardware platforms
  • Knowledge of multimedia telecommunications and popular software packages used for word processing spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Ability to evaluate the performance of hardware and software and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Ability to organize and deliver staff development opportunities that support the use of technology in education to adults learners.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in directing the work of subordinates and in making technical decisions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
  • Ability to interpret data and evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness
  • Strong organizational communication teambuilding and interpersonal skills

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • None

MENTAL/PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

Tools/Equipment Used:

  • Personal computer phone systems video/instructional equipment and peripherals

Posture:

  • Prolonged siting and standing; frequent kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting

Motion:

  • Frequent walking; repetitive computer work with frequent use of hands and wrists

Lifting:

  • Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment

Environment:

  • Work to be completed on-site from assigned school or building
  • Regular exposure to noise and computer monitors
  • Work inside may work outside
  • No remote work
  • Frequent districtwide travel

Mental Demands:

  • Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
