Position Description
The Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies at California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites highly qualified motivated and well-organized applicants for a pool of part-time teaching appointments.

Chicano/Chicana Studies
The Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies (CHS) provides students an interdisciplinary understanding of the political economic historical and cultural realities perspectives and experiences of Chicana/o/e and Latina/o/e populations. A Chicana/o Studies degree provides students with the critical skills and social knowledge to work and live in a society comprising heterogenous populations with varying social needs. The BA degree and minor program emphasize a theoretical and empirical foundation preparing students to pursue diverse career tracks graduate school and post-baccalaureate studies and training in a variety of related fields.
The Chicana/o Studies Department sponsors an extensive co-curricular activities calendar throughout the academic department faculty collaborate with the Culture and Identity Centers including La Casita (Latinx Cultural Resource Center) the Immigrant Justice Center and the Queer Culture and Resource Center to foster campus and community advocacy for anti-racist action and social justice and equity. The department also co-sponsors and supports campus-wide programs and events such as the annual Da de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration and the Latine graduation celebration. In support of student organizations Chicana and Chicano Studies faculty members serve as advisors and work closely with several campus Chicana/o/e and Latina/o/e student organizations.

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open and positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.
Responsibilities
Teach assigned lower- and upper-division courses in the departments curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.

Employment Requirement
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
In accordance with the California State University (CSU) Out-of-State Employment Policy the CSU is a state entity whose business operations reside within the State of California and prohibits hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside of California.
Salary and Benefit Information
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024 the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
Lecturer A: $5507 - $ 6677
Lecturer B: $6221 - $13224
Lecturer C: $6825 - $14523
Lecturer D: $8593 - $15211

The US Equivalency certification is used to validate foreign studies from an academic credential evaluation agency and is evaluated on foreign studies and deemed to be equivalent to degrees from the United States.
