The Amazon Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS) Global Physical Security (GPS) team is looking for an independent talented fast-paced and motivated Technical Program Manager (TPM). This position will join a team of experienced and skilled Program Managers and Support Engineers in managing security technologies globally. GPS is responsible for creating implementing and overseeing Amazon operations security infrastructure and technical solutions for WWOS stakeholders. As a Technical Program Manager you will work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders coordinate the work of multi-disciplinary project teams document project requirements and provide regular detailed project updates to leadership and customers. This role requires a deep customer focus self-motivation technical aptitude and a strategic mindset. You should be someone who has strong verbal and written communication skills has experience managing multiple stakeholders with diverse needs working with security applications and comfortable solving hard (and sometimes ambiguous) problems. Key job responsibilities
- Establish credibility and maintain strong working relationships with groups involved in global physical Security including: Program Managers and Developers on peer teams Loss Prevention Operations IT Services InfoSec Engineering and others
- Identify functional and technical requirements for team products by collecting inputs from business physical security and technical teams.
- Work across teams to drive manage and track long-term projects
- Provide consistent executive-level reporting on project status and outcomes
- Develop knowledge of the technical capabilities of the Amazon Operations physical security systems and the processes / applications used to support them.
- Implement and integrate solutions with existing physical security systems and platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. Physical Security OTS Loss Prevention) to align initiatives with global organizational goals.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to obtain the necessary equipment software and licensing needed for testing 3P solutions.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends emerging technologies and security regulations in the physical security domain
A day in the life
You will own the completion of an array of projects and security initiatives/activities designed to protect your fellow Amazonians. In this role you will have a focus on automation and machine learning (AI/ML) products to reduce or remove manual labor tasks from our field partners. To be successful you obsess over internal and external customers and successfully deliver projects in a very high growth environment where priorities shift extremely fast. You work independently and can manage projects under minimal supervision continuously triage and prioritize accordingly communicate clearly and compellingly and deliver exceptional products. The successful candidate for this role is willing to work at all levels from the theoretical knowledge of security principles and/or AI/ML to the practical application and real-world implementation of security tools and processes.
About the team
Working in partnership with our stakeholders Global Physical Security Solutions (GPSS) uses a litany of knowledge to evaluate and resolve customer pain points by implementing a combination of products and services developed internally (using automation methods) or external to Amazon via third-party (3P) products. Every project works backwards from the customer (both internal to WWOS and other teams at Amazon) to thoroughly understand the problem statement document requirements and provide a solution or recommendation. We deliver projects which support hardware lifecycle (camera and physical security systems including IDS) and automation projects to support both the longevity and scalability of solutions but also seeking to reduce costs wherever possible. We are a small collaborative team who overlap responsibilities with project work and supporting each other in a growth-mindset environment.
- Experience in technical product or program management
- Experience in project management disciplines including scope schedule budget quality along with risk and critical path management
- Bachelors degree in engineering computer science or equivalent
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design
- Experience writing persuasive effective documents
- Experience working directly with engineering teams
- PMP Certification
- Masters Degree in Program Management Computer Science Business Security Technology or related Business/Technical fields
- Highly adept at utilizing metrics to help drive operations and measuring performance against specific well-developed goals
