Job Title: Lead Foam Technician Location: Cleveland OH Business Unit: Team Wendy Schedule:Non-Exempt 1st Shift 5:00 am-1:00 p.m. The Manufacturing Foam Technician Lead is responsible for overseeing daily foam production operations ensuring quality standards are met and guiding foam technicians in the safe efficient and timely manufacturing of foam components. This position plays a key role in leading by example driving continuous improvement and supporting production goals by coordinating workflows troubleshooting equipment or material issues and communicating effectively with cross-functional teams. Essential Duties and/or Functions: Lead and coordinate the activities of foam technicians to meet daily production schedules and quality expectations. Operate monitor and troubleshoot foam production equipment including mixing molding cutting and curing processes. Ensure proper setup and changeovers for foam production lines. Monitor raw material usage and coordinate inventory needs with supply chain or materials management teams. Enforce safety protocols and ensure all team members adhere to health and safety regulations and PPE requirements. Perform first-piece inspections and support in-process and final quality checks. Collaborate with Quality Engineering and Maintenance teams to resolve issues impacting production performance. Train mentor and provide on-the-job coaching to foam technicians to support skill development and accountability. Document and report daily production data downtime scrap rates and improvement actions. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles. Ensure compliance with SOPs work instructions and production documentation. Act as the point of contact during supervisor absences and escalate production concerns as necessary. Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred. 3 years of experience in a foam manufacturing environment with at least 1 year in a leadership or lead role. Experience with polyurethane foam processing or similar materials is a strong plus. Preferred/Desired Skills or Experiences Strong understanding of foam manufacturing processes and related equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings material specifications and production schedules. Effective leadership communication and problem-solving skills. Competency in basic computer applications (e.g. MS Office ERP systems). Familiarity with Lean 5S and continuous improvement practices.
